A rough climb from the campground up to Storey Burn Road and beyond.

Description

This trail starts about a half mile southwest from the Day Use parking at the Gales Creek Campground, along the Gales Creek Trail. Take a left at the junction to start the climb on the Storey Burn Trail.

For much of the hike, it consists of a combination of short and long climbs, sharp turns and is almost entirely a bench-cut trail. It is your typical hike in Tillamook State Forest; winding, gnarly, and unforgiving.

After you reach the top, the trail levels out some and the forest opens up. At the Storey Burn Trailhead, on Storey Burn Road, you'll also find the trailhead to the mountain-bike-only Sickter Lars Trail (no foot traffic on this).

Eventually you'll cross Highway 6, and then a little ways past that, you'll find yourself at the Gravelle Brothers Trail. Heading left will take you to the Rogers Camp Trailhead, south will take you to University Falls and its corresponding trailhead.
