Description

The Lakeside Trail is a flat, packed gravel trail that was constructed and is maintained by the Forest Service as a part of the Choctaw Lake Recreation Area. While it is open to all users, the trail is geared toward casual walking. The trail makes a complete loop around Choctaw Lake and is marked with a mileage marker every 1/4 mile.

There are covered benches for resting and two sst vault toilets on the remote side of the lake. There is a boardwalk all the way across the spillway, making the path totally removed from the road and there is extensive boardwalk across the backwaters of the lake. From the Choctaw Lake trailhead the Chata Trail provides access to the other trails that are situated behind the lake, Chata Trail and Headwaters trail. The trail seems to disappear around the swim beach but is easy to find on either side of the beach area
