A winding trail atop the Bonnet Carre Spillway that was intended for bikes, but is still great for hikes.

Family Friendly Easy trail which allows for endless opportunity to turn around and follow a different trail back.

Description

From the parking area, look for a large plywood sign that marks the trailhead. Follow this trail making sure to track the winding path (or cutting corners if you desire). The trail will take you through the woods providing common views of the spillway as you continue down the trail.

I would recommend going counter clockwise to give yourself as much time as possible to get out of the way of mountain bikers, although signs tell cyclists that they are to hike the trail clockwise.
