Description
To access this trail from the north, start by hiking Thompson Creek Road #305 south to the end of the road. Look for the start of this trail off to the left (south) side. Head down Braderich Creek to meet up with Forest Road 307 (Coal Creek Rd.) that heads east to Redstone.
People also hike this a lot from Coal Creek as an out-and-back to the high point on the trail (4.2 miles in). The Thompson side of this trail is a little more neglected than the Coal Creek side.
To access this trail from the south, take Coal Creek Rd up from Redstone. The trailhead is at a washed out area on the right after a cattle guard. The trail from this side starts with a steep climb but then mellows. Part way up you'll come to an intersection in a meadow- take a left. A little further on a signed intersection, take a right straight up a shale bluff. At the top of the high point is a pass and meadow; turn around here to head back down or continue on for some more adventurous singletrack.
