Description

South Ridge Trail is a very steep and fun jaunt through the wilderness. The trail gets progressively more challenging, and don't worry, as it gets steeper the higher up you go. The view at the top is pretty awesome though, and from Tahquitz Peak the trail continues to the PCT where you have the opportunity to turn your hike into a really fun loop. I headed back down in the light of the setting sun, which was quite the experience.

Flora & Fauna

Oak and pine trees and HUGE manzanita bushes! This forest is very, very healthy looking.

2522ft elevation gain. Climbing switchbacks from trailhead, then a slight grade across the ridge, end in steep switchbacks to the fire lookout tower.

A somewhat steep but rewarding climb to the top of Tahquitz Peak and the fire lookout! Some of the best views you'll find! 7.5mi — 5h 30m
