Description

The trailhead is located next to the Ventana Canyon Resort employee's parking lot. There is dedicated public parking lot for trail visitors and signage to the trailhead is excellent. The trail essentially follows the Ventana Canyon Wash up the canyon (it's typically dry). Two popular reasons to tackle this trail are the Maiden Pools (roughly 4.8 miles from TH) and that it provides access to reach "The Window" which is a 15 by 25 foot opening in solid rock (getting there requires connection to the Esperero Trail #25). The trail is fairly rugged and at times it can be difficult to follow the further from the trailhead you go.

There is a viewpoint at 2.0 miles (soon after the trail departs the drainage bottom for a short stretch) and is a popular destination that makes a good 4 mile round-trip.

First hike in Tucson. Beautiful views, hard to find the trail at times, challenging climb in some places in the heat. 3mi
