“A steep, rocky, loose and narrow section of the Monarch Crest hike.”— Leslie Kehmeier
From here the route contours across the north side of the drainage. The trail surface alternates from dirt and roots to scree.
After passing a series of beaver ponds in the drainage below the trail, the trail gets a bit rougher but you'll find yourself in a scenic spot with steep cliffs surrounding you. The last portion of Silver Creek Trail dives into pine and aspen. Cross a wooden bridge, then hike through the creek itself for 100 yards until the tree canopy opens up.
From here you can chose to return via the road or continue onto Rainbow trail.
