Description

Starting at Breezy Point, the trail traverses along the ridgeline that makes up Lookout and Widow Mountains. After a few miles of some climbing and descending you'll break out of the trees, gaining views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Here, the trail goes away from smooth singletrack to pretty rough and challenging trail. Rocks floating in dust, scree and outcropped rocky sections make up much of the next few miles.

Once up on Lookout Mountain, you can see from Washington to Montana. Lost Lake and some smaller lakes are exposed along the mountains to the North and East. After descending off of Lookout Mountain, hikers will re-enter the trees at the saddle between Lookout and Widow Mountains. From here, the trail provides consistent smooth trail and climbs to the south side of Widow Mountain. As you hit the ridge on the South of Widow Mountain there is a minor trail junction with the spur that climbs up to Widow Mountain Peaks (it is easy to miss). The trail then descends down to the junction with Delaney Creek Trail #271 and Orphan Saddle/Freezeout Road Connector Trail.
