Need to Know
Very wet, year-round. No view from the summit, even from promising-looking herd paths, except the slight view of Whiteface over the trail. Marked on the
Whiteface Mountain Trail by a very large cairn with an orange rod sticking out.
Description
You can only access the Esther Mountain Trail by first taking the
Whiteface Mountain Trail. There are no views the entire length of the Esther Mountain Trail. While there are not many steep sections over this one mile trail, it is often filled with water and mud. This is due to erosion of the trail and inadequate drainage. When I took the trail, it was clear for several days but the trail was like hiking a stream. Be prepared to get wet.
There is no view from the summit which is buried amongst thickets and underbrush. It's very anticlimactic however, there is a metal plaque cemented to a rock identifying the summit.
