Overview
This route can be extremely taxing for some. It features multiple scrambles up steep grades; however, there are great views at the top of the three peaks.
Need to Know
Trail has some very steep scramble sections that young children and pets might not be able to handle.
Description
The first half-mile from the parking lot is gentle elevation through covered forest. Once the trail splits, stay right to continue on
Trail B. Continuing up, the elevation changes rapidly as you climb some very steep grades. There is a lookout/bench about halfway up the mountain, so if you're feeling it, you can take a rest before continuing on.
The steep climb ends between the middle and eastern peak. Turn to the right, and scramble 100 feet to the first peak. Once there, turn around, pass the top of the trail, and climb up chains and metal ladders to another lookout on the back of the middle peak. Once you're ready, turn around and scramble up to the middle peak - and the best views. The western peak is accessed via another scramble, first down, assisted by chain, and then up a steep canyon.
When you're ready to head back, the trail picks up at the base of the western peak, this is
Trail A. After a steep climb down, take the
A-B Connector trail to link back up to
Trail B. Once at the intersection with
Trail B, turn right to head back the way you came to the parking area.
