Description
This hike is a loop that starts from the first parking lot after you enter the park. There is a fee for parking within park limits on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays: $2 per hour or $5 maximum per car per day.
To begin the hike, cross the road to the trail access and head south along trail. As you near the south end of the park, cross the lawn to link up with the western trail and follow that north. Follow this until you reach the parking lot. Cross the lot and continue on to the westernmost trail; a left that will take you up a singletrack that ascends the canyon. When you reach The Wall (a sheer wall hillside enclosing the north end of the box canyon), the trail turns east. Continue heading east on the main upper trail until it arcs south and descends steeply. This is a nice section of trail that offers great views. Head south until you reach the right turn that takes you back across the road to the parking lot.
