The trailhead can be reached from Sofia by taking the 69 bus from metro station G.M. Dimitrov. From the parking lots, follow the red signs to the right down the dirt road. After a few hundred meters, the trail will veer right off the road to a thin singletrack; follow this track and after another kilometer it will open up into a doubletrack. This section can be very muddy. After a river crossing, the trail widens and is a pleasant hike through stands of high pines.

For the next few kilometers, the trail follows the contours of the mountain crossing numerous bridges and streams. As you approach Simeonovo, there is a slight uphill section followed by a steep series of switchbacks. As you exit the switchbacks, you'll be hiking north down the hill along the river. Use the bridge to cross and continue down past the lakes.
