Description

The trail connects Cooper Landing, AK to Hope, AK. It has amazing backcountry singletrack both above and below tree-line. There are several lakes, rivers, cabins, and tent-sites along the way. There is an option to cut your hike short by going down the Devil's Pass Trail. The lower Hope side of the trail has some roots. The middle portion of the trail above tree-line is great!

The trail is mostly easy-going, there was one climb going south to north after swan lake up to devil's pass that was the most technical for the hike in terms of rocks and elevation gain. Other than that the grade is mellow, mostly smooth.

The section between Devil's Pass and Hope is a long gradual downhill that passes a number of creeks and beaver ponds up in the pass, slowly descending along the river gorge down below treeline. Views of the pass and alpine are expansive and plentiful. Once down in the trees you hike the rim of the gorge down until the grade levels off a bit. The trail becomes more rooty from here to the crossing relative to the rest of the trail. The trail then meanders through the woods and eventually follows the resurrection creek down to the more developed trail to the parking lot.
