Features Fall Colors · River/Creek

Family Friendly This trail is suitable for younger kids. The only part they may have some trouble with (depending on how young they are) is crossing a small stream bed near the lower branch portion of the trail.

This is one of the trails that is designated only for foot traffic in the park, so enjoy!

Description

This trail splits shortly after the trailhead and crossing the Appalachian Trail. This course follows the path to the right, which, for a stretch, is a trail made from an old CCC road from the 1930s. The trail is a steady downhill southerly trek at an easy, low grade. Eventually it rejoins the portion that split near the beginning (making a loop). The lower branch is a trail that tracks along a stream and eventually exits onto Birch Run Road near the northern tip of Long Pine Reservoir.

Flora & Fauna

Rhododendrons are quite prevalent in this area.
