Description

As one of the more out-of-the-way trails in this area, you'll be hard pressed to find company on this route. Especially given the sandy, exposed nature of the surrounding trails, this hike isn't for the unprepared. However, if you're a hiker with a bit of experience negotiating the desert, this loop is a great addition.

From the main Maze Loop Trail, this is a southern extension. You'll have already become familiar cacti species, desert sights, and interesting geology along the way, and this route offers even more. Along the way, you'll enjoy gently rolling terrain, and an opportunity to view the Window. While not Joshua Tree's most spectacular formation, this is still a geologic point worth admiring.
