Description

The trail begins on the western slope of the river valley. It heads through the alpine forest for 1.6 miles until it intersects with the Little Cimarron East Trail. At 5.3 miles into the hike, the trail turns to the north and begins climbing up the ridge. Over the next 1.7 miles, the trail goes up about 1000 ft to the top of the ridge at 12,200 ft. At 6.9 miles, the trail comes out of the forest onto the top of the ridge and begins heading back south.

While on top of the ridge, the trail is not well maintained or marked but the general direction of the path is clear. The trail stays on top of the ridge for the next 3 miles until it intersects with the Fall Creek Trail at the end. At the end of the trail, you can either retrace your steps to your car or you can head north on the Fall Creek Trail. The Fall Creek Trail does not end where this trail begins so you can either head down the dirt road (about 2.5 miles) to your parking spot or use a car shuttle.
