Overview

A gorgeous and moderate 5-mile, 5 waterfall hike!

Need to Know

The smell of cinnamon buns at the visitor center will entice you! These make an excellent post-hike treat, but they go fast which necessitates an early morning.

Description

The route starts at the base of the largest waterfall, Multnomah Falls. From there, you'll make your way across the bridge and start the journey up. You'll begin a 1-mile climb, moving through 11 tough, steep switchbacks that lead to the top of Multnomah Falls using the Larch Mountain Trail #441.

At the top of the main falls, continue along the marked trail which runs alongside the gorgeous, lush, Degobah-esque Multnomah Creek, over a beautiful stone bridge, and past the second waterfall, Dutchman Falls, around the 1.75 mile mark. At the 2 mile mark, you can explore the third waterfall, Wiesendanger Falls.

Continue the trail through a steeper section and continue the climb by taking the Wahkeena Trail #420 through some forested areas. At the 3-mile mark, start your descent by continuing on the Wahkeena Trail #420 which zig-zags over Wahkeena Creek. An alternate route could be Vista Point Trail which meets up with Wahkeena Trail #420 near the aptly name Fairy Falls, the fourth waterfall.

Continue the descent and end the your hike at the second largest falls, Wahkeena Falls.

There was a tree around halfway that was uprooted on the path and seemed like it will fall within the next few weeks. Definitely keep an eye out. — 2h 30m
