Family Friendly This is an easy, fun trail through a canyon.

Do not attempt this trail if it is raining, or even threatening to rain, as the canyon is narrow and prone to flash flooding.

Description

A nice, easy trail that can be done on the way to Santa Elena Canyon Overlook. The canyon is made of tuff (hence the name), which is a mixture of volcanic ash. Note the interesting contrasts on the way between the relatively soft, white, tuff and the embedded darker basalt.

This trail is recommended in the spring as there are many wildflowers along the trail and if you go after a rainfall you are likely to find cacti blooming as well.
