This is a SD State Park. Entry fee or an Annual Park Permit is required.

Overview

This is a multi-use trail, shared between hikers, bikers, and horses. Varied terrain and cover will keep you out of the sun, and still let you build up a good sweat (in the summer). It's a short drive from Sioux Falls, and a good way to spend the day with the family.

Description

This is a BIG loop, made up of multiple trails to increase the distance.

It's very easy trail system to navigate through, and most trails are well-marked. The larger, Blue Diamond Multi-Use Trail, loop to the north side of the park is a multi-use trail, where you'll be sharing the trail with bikes and horses. The Woodland Trail loop to the south is hike and bike only.

Trails are usually in pretty good shape, although sections can be a bit difficult to hike around if it's been raining due to mud.

The majority of the hike is in the shade so it makes for a pleasant spring/summer hike. And with the vast array of trees, the colors are beautiful in the fall.

Flora & Fauna

Poison ivy in areas and always check for ticks when you get done. Lots of deer in the park as well and they aren't as skittish as most deer are, so photo ops abound!
