“This is the main trail in the Crags - complete with cool jagged rock formations - along the western slope of Pikes Peak.”— Karl W
Family Friendly The trail isn't too long nor steep. The end offers some fun rocks to play on and some nice "family photo" opportunities.
Continue along the Crags Trail which follows Fourmile Creek northeast through a valley. The trail will be wooded at first, but will eventually open up into a meadow with lovely views of rocky cliffs and the rough western flank of Pikes Peak. There is a small stream crossing about a third of the way that can be overgrown with brush - but there was a good spot with logs to stay dry.
The trail will become more clear again along the creek. It will then re-enter forest and gain some elevation as it turns north along a small ridge. The ridge becomes rocky so keep an eye for the path/cairns. This rockiness means good views!
The trail ends on the top of a rocky outcropping with excellent views and some nice rock formations to take pictures with.
