The Snowgrass, Goat Lake, and Old Snowy areas are the most crowded areas in the Goat Rocks Wilderness. Expect parking lots and camp spots to fill early, even on the weekdays. Help preserve the fragile meadows and Leave No Trace by following Wilderness Regulations.

This trail is part of the Klickitat Trail System used by Native Americans traveling over Cispus Pass.

Description

The Snowgrass Trail begins at the Berry Patch Trailhead and can also be accessed from the Snowgrass Hikers Trailhead. The trail heads northeast through a lush conifer forest. After crossing Goat Creek at 2.25 miles, the trail switchbacks through talus and timber to the junction with Bypass Trail #97. The trail continues to climb steeply to the junction with the Pacific Crest Trail, ending in the Snowgrass Flats area.

Snowgrass Flats is a 10-plus acre subalpine meadow located in a bowl near the headwaters of Snowgrass Creek. The area was originally named for a type of plant that stockmen called snowgrass.
