“Immerse yourself in Leslie Gulch to experience true desert beauty, a challenging finish, and a fantastic view.”— Eric Ashley
From the trailhead, head north into the gulch along a sandy wash that winds beneath caves and towering overhangs. At .06 miles, keep right at the split to follow a small ridge up to a rocky amphitheater. From the amphitheater, there's a nice view of Mahogany Mountain to the south. The surrounding rocks and distant view make a good turnaround spot for hikers limited by time or looking to keep things easier.
The trail isn't over yet, though, as there's another great view to be had. To reach the next vantage point, continue left up the narrowing gulch to eventually complete a steep, challenging push to the saddle on the ridgeline above. From the top, enjoy a vast expanse that includes views of Lake Owyhee and the rippling ridges of the Owyhee Canyonlands.
