Description
The Tallgrass Trail gradually winds through the prairie. This trail begins with and is connected to the
Overlook Trail. Keep your eyes up as you come down the hill, as bison and elk are often visible. The Tallgrass Trail also allows you to make your way along the enclosure's fence line. Be sure to look carefully for wildlife. Benches and resting points are available along the way.
Flora & Fauna
Bison and elk are visible at times from the Tallgrass Trail. Birds like the Common Yellowthroat, Dickcissel, and Eastern Meadowlark are in abundance each summer. Monarch butterflies, Tiger Swallowtails, and bumblebees take flight among the wildflowers. Indigo, asters, and sunflowers abound.
