It is well maintained with few narrow spots. There are some hills but not bad.

Overview

This route needs a brief overview!

Description

This is a great trail to hike on. It has a bit of an incline but that makes for a good workout.

Overall, the trail is very pretty. However, it's very exposed so bring water!

Good workout and if you get off the main Cattail Pond Trail it is a little more isolated. 5mi — 1h 45m

Fantastic hike! Some steep grades over rocky, root covered terrain that cuts through cedar and hardwood forest. A real hidden gem in North Texas. 2.3mi

I hike Cedar Ridge Preserve a lot even though its is a 45 minute drive for me to get there. It is comparable to some of the hikes in the Hill Country around Austin and is one of the best kept secrets in Dallas. Cedar Ridge Loop is probably the most difficult hike in the park, but the Fossil Valley trail has some nice climbs as well. May 2, 2018
