Description

This is a through trail with parking lots at both ends. It is a great workout if you start at the bottom, and do the full round trip. There is a rough parking lot at the lower trailhead, as well as plenty of legal on-street parking nearby.

The trail initially follows the perimeter of the Heard Scout Pueblo, a day camp. You can get a good view of their high-ropes course as you go by. Then the trail heads earnestly up the hill. As you climb, the views of the city and northern mountains get better and better. The trail is well maintained by a local bicycle club.

About halfway up, the trail intersects a popular downhill mountain bike track and follows it the rest of the way to the top. Be on your toes here, because fast moving downhill bikes can appear suddenly.

At the top, there is a parking lot, and a number of trails branch out from here, creating opportunities for loops.
