Description

Loop 1 is one of the most popular routes in the park, and makes for a pleasant outing. The terrain here is noticeably more rolling than in other portions of the park, which makes for a more exciting outing for those traveling on foot. Aside from the rolling nature of the trails, this route shares the same shaded, hardwood forest experience of the other trails in the park.

Lake Crabtree County Park singletrack is by far the most popular place for those hikers just discovering the sport in the Triangle. Its central location is also great for relieving weekday stress if you work in RTP. The wooded trails connect to Umstead State Park's gravel roads and Cary's Black Creek Greenway.

Navigating the trails is helped by frequent maps posted near intersections.

Fun series of winding bike trails by the lake. Mostly right next to loud I-40 traffic though so your getaway to the woods will sure feel very urban. 3.5mi — 1h 10m
