Family Friendly If hiking the full loop is a bit much, feel free to cut the journey short. The lake offers boat and kayak rentals as an alternative activity.

Overview

This route through the park is nice and quiet. The way is very wooded with abundant wildlife. The terrain is mostly singletrack with some loose gravel/rock sections and other hard-packed dirt. Overall, this route is a very moderate outing with some nice inclines!

Need to Know

A few creek crossings might mean wet toes.

Description

From the Information Station located at the northern entrance to the park, the trailhead is cater-cornered. You'll begin on the Wildcat Trail that will eventually lead you to the MB trail and to the Creech Hollow Trail that I used to make this North Loop route.

As you continue to the south, you'll eventually reach the Overnight Trail, where you'll take a left to curve back to the north. There is one shelter about halfway through the loop that you would need to reserve at the information station if you'd like to stay overnight. There are a few stream crossings you'll encounter that aren't to tricky to maneuver.

Overall, this is a good moderately-used series of trails (I was only passed once by a trail runner) and for the most part, things are well maintained. The trails are decently marked for the most part with some spots lacking any signage. Dogs are also allowed in this park as long as they are on a leash. I will be going back!

Flora & Fauna

We saw some deer and the occasional squirrel.
