Old railway tracks converted to track”
— Jacob Petten
No motorized vehicles.
Started at Lake Cowichan. The trail is old railway tracks converted to a multiuse trail that does not allow motorized vehicles. The majority of the route is covered by tree canopy, with wildlife such as Black Bear, deer and rabbit along the route. Running along the trail is a small creek and half way through runs along side a pond/march. The first 13km is a slight incline in elevation then the remainder transitions into a slight decline in elevation. There are multiple road crossings with little traffic until I had to cross Lake Cowichan Road. There is one washroom 5km outside of Duncan, just before crossing Lake Cowichan Road. This is a good trail if you like to run long distances with little change in elevation.
