Family Friendly This shorter route can be combined with some of the other trails for a great introduction to hiking in the rockies.

Description

The trailhead for this route is located at the parking lot on the south side of 285. Take this trail from the trailhead up the hill and past the bathroom. From here the trail splits in two. Both trails are called the Owl's Perch Trail and rejoin after about a third of a mile. Taking the trail as marked is 0.3 miles until it rejoins with the main trail.

Along the way, you'll move through high elevation prairie grasses, which will turn to more dense ponderosa forests by the time you meet back up with the other branch of the Owl's Perch Trail. You'll enjoy the views from this scenic trail!
