Update

A maintained, short trail that leads to the delta of Mineral Creek and the Port of Valdez.

Nick Weicht

Overview

Features: Birding — Fall Colors — River/Creek — Spring — Swimming — Views — Wildflowers — Wildlife

Description

This well maintained trail passes through an impressive cottonwood forest before reaching stunning views at the ocean. The trail is an old two track about eight feet wide with a gravel surface. There is a reroute a short distance in that may have been created to keep it from flooding. The old route is still there and accessible.

There are a few informal trails going to the north to access Mineral Creek. The trail remains gravel until the end where there is a bench and excellent views of Port Valdez. Be bear aware as there are spawning streams next to the trail and down by the beach, making this a popular spot for salmon and bears.

On a good day, you may see some kite surfers as this is a perfect spot to splash about in the wind.
