A short mowed path and singletrack trail.

chris kilgore

Features Birding · Fall Colors · Lake · Views · Wildflowers · Wildlife

Description

From the Raptor Center parking lot, take the trail on the right, a grassy doubletrack, and follow it just into the tree line and then look for a singletrack dropping into the woods on the right. Follow the singletrack past the turn off to the Osprey Trail until you come up out of the woods at a clearing. Here the trail turns left to the NE and is grassy doubletrack. Take it all the way back almost to the trailhead but at the intersection near the end of the tree line turn right again down into a low-lying area with a strange bale of bundled fabric. As you come up out of this depression, the trail ends at an intersection with the Bird Blind Loop.

Flora & Fauna

Lots of deer, wildflowers, some edible berries, and the usual mix of Iowa mammals and birds.
