Description

You can start at the Holsclaw Road parking load and take the Mitchell Hill Lake Trail to the start or begin at the Visitor Center. If you start at the Visitor Welcome Center, you'll go behind the building and up the hill, along the path that the Go Ape ropes course follows.

You'll leave the ropes course behind and bend around the ridge, which you'll follow until you get there is a split in the trail. This route is a "lollipop", so it doesn't matter which direction you choose to go. This route suggests that you go left down the stone stairs to continue on the trail, which eventually loops around and you'll have to cross Jones Hollow Road to reconnect to the trail.

This trail is a great intermediate distance, and features some very gently rolling terrain, which keeps things exciting.

Easy trail with some intermediate climbs. Lots of shade, and quiet, pleasant woods. Broad path, well-cleared. Spider webs weren't too bad!

Several divergences; finding trailhead cont. from road can be tricky: I required this app to pick it up again after walking up and down the road loop. 2.7mi — 1h 48m
