Description

The Trillium Falls Trail branches off of the Davison Trail at the southern end of the Elk Meadow Day Use Area. From the parking area, head out on the Davison Trail, watching for the Trillium Falls Trail to branch off to your right shortly after leaving the parking lot.

The trail starts with a short, steep uphill with a couple switchbacks until you reach the cascade. Trillium Falls is a ten-foot waterfall surrounded by moss-covered rocks and overshadowed by the big-leaf maple. From here, the trail continues through a lush forest of towering ancient redwoods and vibrant green undergrowth. As you hike along the creek, keep an eye open for patches of the trail's namesake, white trillium (Trillium grandiflorum), which bloom in the spring.

There are some rolling ups and downs for the remainder of the trail, but nothing too strenuous. The trail finishes with a steady downhill to connect back up with the Davison Trail where you can turn left to make a loop back to the parking lot.

Flora & Fauna

Douglas-fir, western hemlock, and Sitka spruce in addition to the Redwoods. Keep an eye open for the forest's smaller inhabitants such as red tree voles, Pacific giant salamanders, and banana slugs in the undergrowth.
