Family Friendly There's a main trail that is wide and open view with some smaller side trails off the main trail. There are benches. The terrain is easy enough for regular shoes.

Parking fees are enforced.

Need to Know

There are no trash cans once you've begun your hike so please "pack out what you pack in." Binoculars would be a good item to pack. The terrain is gravel, so watch your step in the way down.

Description

This trail starts out with a steep incline and a good look at the Arboretum. As you take that first turn around the bend, you get your first glimpse of your uphill battle. Don't worry, there is a bench close by. At the second bench up is a view that looks over eastern Eugene.

As you proceed past this bench, the terrain gets a bit rocky but not enough for climbing. This stretch up to the tree line becomes more of an incline. Once you've made it to the tree line, the trail narrows to the right as you journey through the the overhanging trees and spectacular views of the valley below. There is a clearing right after with a bench and a specially placed rock for great picture taking opportunities.

After that, there's one little stretch of flat trail that sends relief signals to your legs for a sweet moment. One more little rocky incline to the top, and you've made it all the way to the top where you can see the memorial tree stump monument. There are also benches around all sides of the viewing point. You made it!

Flora & Fauna

There are wildflowers. Ash, oak, pine. Plethora of birds. During sunset there are lots of mosquitoes.
