Description

Head southwest from Horseshoe Lake Trail and follow the small creek on your right. After 0.7 miles, the trail crosses the creek and joins the Pacific Crest Trail. The crossing can be very challenging depending on the snow melt and the time of the year. Search for logs across the creek further upstream. Continue with the creek on your left to another creek crossing that is a lot easier over a small wooden bridge. You enter the Grassy Swale, a wetland that is partially inundated. The trail turns into a boardwalk and lets you appreciate the grassy meadows on dry footing.

Continue on and reach Kings Creek at about 3.3 miles. The creek can be deep and roaring, even throughout the summer. There is no bridge, so you either need to ford the creek if that is safely possible or look for some logs across the creek further upstream.
