Description

Travel along the Coventry Pond Trail for a relaxing getaway in the forests of the Delaware Water Gap.

Starting at the Millbrook Parking Area, climb gently up the winding trail through forests dominated by white oak, red maple, and shagbark hickory before reaching Coventry Pond at the trail's end.

Once dammed by engineers, the pond saw a breech that drained it considerably and destroyed the old damn. However, hiking to the pond today will provide visitors with a view into the repair-work of nature's own water engineer: the beaver.

Traveling along the banks of the pond, keep an eye out for signs of beaver activity, including beaver dams as well as tree stumps in the shape of a pencil tip. With the colonization of this pond by beavers, the water has returned to nearly the level it was at when the human dam existed.

While this area is beautiful in every season, come during the fall for a transcendental experience as you wander through forests erupting in shades of orange, red, and yellow.
