Description
Blue Sky is a gentle climb (or descent depending on the direction you are hiking) along the ridge above Vasquez Creek. The trail changes between wide and rocky doubletrack on the steeper sections to smooth, sweeping singletrack in the narrower, flatter sections through the trees. Enjoy the sound of the creek and the solitude of dense evergreen woods on this trail.
The top of Blue Sky connects to a fire road that if taken to the west across Vasquez Creek will connect you back to Vasquez Road and a variety of other trails if you are looking for a longer hike. This trail is multi-use, and while it typically isn't busy, just be alert and courteous to others on the trail.
Flora & Fauna
Blue spruce, douglas fir, and ferns by the creek. Ponderosa pine, aspen, and kinnikinnick higher along the ridge. There are a couple mini-meadows that sometimes can be muddy, but also are home to some pretty wildflowers including bluebells, irises and asters.
Moose, deer, elk, porcupines, and a variety of birds.
