From the Scenic Trail
, you'll head west onto this trail. After a quarter mile of desert hiking, you'll start to climb through loose rocks and gain significant elevation until you reach the saddle of the mountain.
From there you'll leave the well-blazed trail and have the opportunity to do a little more scrambling up the eastern side of Safford Peak
. While short, this trail is strenuous, especially at the end. Don't worry, your efforts won't be in vain, as the desert views from the top are well worth it!
