A very difficult trail but the mid way viewpoint and top viewpoints make it worth it.

Family Friendly Kids would love the first mile but I wouldn't let them go past that as the trail can become dangerous.

The only way to access the trail is to stay overnight at the Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge.

Description

Access to this trail is restricted to guests of the Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge. Take a cruise to the island, or dive yourself in to enjoy the spectacular views and pristine wilderness provided by the island.

The trail is partly maintained up to the spit viewing area and not maintained at all past this point. There is a steep rise near the end of the trail that requires some scrambling, so make sure that you are prepared to undertake this challenge. You can still get to the top by following the trail but it can get scary at some points.

As the island is fairly lush with vegetation, shrubbery grows over the trail a fair bit. All of the struggle pays off in the end 100% as the view from the top is breathtaking.

Flora & Fauna

Though wildlife sightings are rare, you'll enjoy lush plant life.
