This is one of four races in the Mad Moose Trail Series, which is a series of low cost trail races in Colorado Springs. The 8-mile race course covers a majority of the trails and gives you a great chance to see what Cheyenne Mountain State Park has to offer. The park showcases a diverse eco-system with lots of wildlife, which this race certainly takes advantage of. The higher in elevation you go the more wooded the trails become and better the views are of the city of Colorado Springs. Plus, in May, the flowers and trees will be blooming.
This 8-miler features one small climb, and one larger climb, but both hills are conquerable. The course features friendly trail surfaces and beautiful vistas, all of which combine to make this a great introductory trail race.
