Family Friendly Similar to the other trails in this area, the Encinas Trail makes for a great excursion that families can venture out on for whatever distance suits them.

Pets, bicycles, vehicles, and overnight use prohibited.

Description

Best to start this trail off of Golden Gate Rd at the Ez-Kim-In-Zin Picnic area. You can leisurely make your way along this trail in a westerly direction towards Sandario Road enjoying a variety of cacti and plenty of sunshine. You won't see too many people on this trail. As the Encinas Trail nears Sandario Road, you intersect a few other trails, but ultimately, if you want to return to the Ez-Kim-In-Zin Picnic area, you'll need to return on the Encinas Trail.

You might consider using Ez-Kim-In-Zin Picnic area as your starting point, enjoy a leisurely outing on the Encinas trail for a mile or two, and return to the Ez-Kim-In-Zin Picnic area for a meal while enjoying the desert surroundings.

In addition, the trail exits at Sandario Road, but please be aware that there is no designated trailhead parking off Sandario Road. If you choose to start this trail off of Sandario Road, and work your way to the Ez-Kim-In-Zin Picnic area, you need to leave your car on the shoulder of Sandario Road - which isn't recommended.
