Description

Snaking through the Apgar area is a trail used by the park's horse concessionaire. This trail is level and goes through a nice lodgepole forest. Use by the horses decreases the quality of the trail. This can make the trail unpleasant. It does have one nice meadow along McDonald Creek and gives you a brief section along the Middle Fork Flathead River. Beyond that, it spends most of its time wandering through the forest with few scenic views.

Flora & Fauna

Forest birding is nice for birds such as chickadees and warblers. Sections along Mcdonald Creek yield waterfowl. Flowers are forest flowers such as arnica and forget-me-nots.
