Overview

Features: Lake — Views
Family Friendly: Great place to swim.

Description

Echo Lake Ledges is one of the most popular swimming areas on Echo Lake, which is one of the most popular places to swim on Mount Desert Island. The trail starts from the parking area off Route 102.

Follow the trail down the steps next to the outhouse. Head through the woods until you reach an open rocky ledge that slopes down to Echo Lake. This is a great place to swim. You can jump off the ledges or gently ease yourself into the water. This is also a great place to cool off after exerting yourself on the Acadia Mountain Trail.
