Family Friendly Dramatic stone steps lend a fairytale quality to the Emery Path

Description

The Emery Path starts near Sieur de Monts Nature Center and follows a series of dramatic stone steps partway up the east face of Dorr Mountain. The steps, among the finest stonework in Acadia National Park, twist and turn up the mountain like a medieval stair master. The effort is worth it. As the steps open onto broad ledges, beautiful views of forests and meadows unfold to the northeast. As you climb higher, views of Frenchman Bay and the Porcupine Islands also come into view. The higher you climb, the better the views become.

The Emery Path ends at the junction of the Schiff Path, which heads to the top of 1,270-foot Dorr Mountain, and Kurt Diederichs Climb, which heads back to Sieur de Monts Nature Center via the northern edge of the Tarn.
