Trail shared by Phil DiGirolamo

A meandering trail from the valley floor up to the wide open ridge through the redwoods.

Features Birding · River/Creek · Spring · Views · Wildflowers · Wildlife

Family Friendly Of the loops around the valley, this is an easier climb or descent than the Lost Trail. Expect a couple hours of hiking for sure.

Description

The Canopy Trail ascends to the eastern slope of the valley. This trail has switchbacks that make the climb much easier than other trails. You'll cross multiple bridges and be shaded most of the way up to the top. One will find that the footing is easy along most of the trail.

You can connect with the Lost Trail to do a counter-clock loop down back into the valley floor for about a 2.5 mile outing, or go clockwise onto the Panoramic Trail to begin a 3.4 mile loop. Either direction you choose to go, the trail and the views will be magnificent.

Many locals refer to this trail as the Ocean View Trail. There may still be signs with that designation.
