“A long meandering road to a beautiful point with a great beach hike.”— Gunks Jesse
Make sure you bring LOTS of water and plenty of snacks. It's a long hike and there is NO shade. Sunscreen is a must.
Eventually, the trail will ease left and reach the point. Excellent fishing can be done here (Florida salt water license required). I think the best return hike is via the beach on the gulf side of the island. It provides a change of scenery, and the water is typically crystal clear on a calm day, enabling you to see ocean life swimming along the shore. Dolphins, rays, and lots of fish are typical of this area. Continue west on the beach until you reach the Sugar Hill visitor center.
