Conditions

All Clear 6 days ago
Muddy - Very wet, (many times it felt like we were hiking up an active stream, since we were!) but mud is kept in check by the rocks History

Getting forecast...

Old logging tracks switchback their way up to the old granite-mining ledge, tucked away near great views of Brattleboro.

Family Friendly While the climb tackles plenty of elevation, the grades are moderate along the entire trail. Middle school and older kids should be just fine and will love to check out the granite quarry.

Description

You could hike this trail as an out-and-back, though I recommend hiking it with someone and parking a shuttle vehicle at the Madame Sherri Forest Parking Area at the other end. From the Wantastiquet side, the trail is pretty obvious to the top as it climbs a series of steep, serpentine switchbacks on a pleasant tread.

At the top, continue past the outlook to the radio cell tower, where signs will direct you to Madame Sherri Forest Parking Area, if you choose that route. Otherwise, enjoy awesome views and the granite quarry before descending the way you came.
