Overview

This is a Nature Conservancy property with one well-defined trail. It starts in typical Front Range grassland with yucca and scrub oak, before rolling up into the trees and rocks.

Description

The trailhead is obvious and well-marked. The trail heads out and splits after approximately 0.5 miles.

Heading north and west, the trail climbs gently into the trees, where the trail becomes more about the dirt, roots, and rocks than about the sand and overgrowth trying to reach out and grab you.

At its highpoint the trail crosses over some rock formations (nothing requiring scrambling), before dropping back amongst the trees to return you to the junction and the trailhead.

This is simply a great hike if you are looking for something short and different, but still easily accessible and close.

Review below. Great little hike. Yes, it is a preserve so no dogs allowed. You don't really notice the elevation gain. 4mi — 2h 00m

Did this with Olivia and Madelyn on a beautiful day. Saw some amazing birds and met a bird watcher. A great hike. 4mi

We drove out only to find signs posted that NO PETS ARE ALLOWED. Would have been nice to have known that before we drove out with two dogs.
