Features Fall Colors · River/Creek · Wildflowers · Wildlife

These trails were created and are maintained in cooperation with the local municipal entity (The Town of Jonesborough Parks and Recreation Department). The wooded are areas are quite peaceful and offer a lot of vibrant colors during the spring, summer and fall months. The trails range from moderate to relatively difficult but can be managed by a range of skill levels.
The park in which the trials are located opens at dawn and closes at dusk.

Need to Know

There is a great downtown area not 2 minutes down the road from the park. If you head south on Persimmon Ridge Road to the stop sign and take a left onto Main Street then that will take you downtown. It's well worth the visit :)

From Wetlands Waterpark: cross the footbridge (located to the right of the pavilion behind the water park) and turn right onto the gravel trail. From there the trailhead of Walter's Trail will be on the left. The trail is easy to follow. This trail will bring you back to the gravel trail and you'll turn right onto another foot bridge which will take you to Luke's Trail. At the end of Luke's Trail you'll exit onto a road which will take you down the hill back into the park. At the stop sign turn left onto the road and then turn right onto the concrete path before you get to the Wetland's Waterpark sign. The beginning of the concrete path is blocked by three yellow poles. Stay on this path until you reach the gravel road on the left (about 200 yards). This will be before you go through the underpass. Take a left again to stay on the gravel road. You'll stay on this road for about 200 yards when you'll see the trailhead of John's Trial on the right. At the end of John's Trail you'll take a left back onto the gravel road. Once you get down the hill you'll see the lower extension of the gravel trail on your right. This is a smaller gravel trail with two poles blocking vehicular traffic. This trail will take you back down to the footbridge where you began and the total distance should be about 3.50 miles.

Flora & Fauna

Deer and turkey can be seen here. There are a lot of wildflowers and flowering trees that make the area quite pretty.

History & Background

These trail were recently redesigned by the Town of Jonesborough in Early 2015. All of the trails have been redeveloped and rerouted where needed.

I use this loop for trail running. It is a challenging 3 mile loop with lots of elevation change. I've never seen it crowded. . . . Highly recommended. Apr 29, 2017
