Description

This is a clearly marked trail that is great for kids (we took 9 kids between 4 adults and had no problems).

From the trailhead, you'll go uphill on a singletrack path through the open forest giving a great view of the surrounding forested areas. After the initial uphill, the trail levels out with an optional side loop that provides a stunning view of the gorge. This trail will take you right to the edge of a very steep drop off so hold on to little ones.

Continuing on will bring you to a bridge over the stunning Oneonta Falls. The view is amazing as the falls drop into a narrow, yet steep and deep canyon that flows on to the Columbia river.

The trail then heads uphill again through some switchbacks before leveling off for a pleasant, level hike back towards the Columbia River. You are again presented with an amazing view of the gorge before heading back down to the highway and to Horsetail Falls.

Hike is short but requires climbing over two log jams and wading/swimming to the falls. Totally worth it! 0.7mi
